Primo primer kilnwash (10g)

This kilnwash works perfectly with the HotMold

It comes in a small 10 gram jar, which allows you to use the hotmold many times.

Kilnwash is used in professional glass kilns and gives a smooth finish just like ThinFire Paper. When using Kilnwash, you only need to cover the bottom of the mold with ThinFire Paper.
One Kilnwash coating is sufficient for fusing glass two to three times, after which you will have to apply a new coating.
Work in a well-ventilated area and always follow the manufacturer's safety guidelines.

Create Kilnwash:

1. Carefully mix the Kilnwash powder 1 part powder with 4 parts water. Mixing well is important. You can optionally put two marbles in a (closed) container to mix well.

2. Apply the Kilnwash with a soft brush and stroke from left to right. Allow to dry briefly (the coating will become matte) now apply a second coat from top to bottom. You apply each layer in a different or opposite direction, so that the coating is well distributed.
3. Apply a total of 4 coats of Kilnwash.

Kilnwash heated once before use

Kilnwash must be heated once before use with glass without glass so that the coating can adhere to the mould.
4. Kilnwash is purple when applied. After heating, the coating turns white. This is a color coding that indicates that the Kilnwash is now ready to use.
5. We have tested at which wattage the Kilnwash activates in our microwave setup:
Standard HotPot heated for at least 25 minutes at 300 watts - let it cool down
heat in the Maxi HotPot for at least 35 minutes at 300 watts - closed allow to cool

Fusing

The Kilnwash has now become a powdery coating. Place a layer of ThinFire Paper under the mold and follow the instructions as described above.

Store

6. You can save the Kilnwash you have created for future use. Mix/shake well before use.
